One person is dead after an apparent early-morning shooting in the town of Ontario.
Deputies are investigating it as a homicide after a man, identified as 61-year-old James Sharpstense, was found with a gunshot wound to the torso a little before 2 a.m. The incident took place on Brookway Crescent, according to authorities.
A woman was located at the residence and transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for questioning. Authorities said no charges have been filed as detectives continue their investigation.
The sheriff’s office said they believe the incident was isolated and that there is no threat to the community. The New York State Police and the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office assisted at the scene.
