Farm workers in Western New York are demanding the release of union organizers detained by ICE, according to Spectrum News. On Friday, United Farm Workers members rallied outside a Batavia detention facility after a transport bus was reportedly stopped and several workers were taken away.
Union leaders claim the detained individuals were organizing with them and had initially been in contact before communication stopped. They are now seeking legal counsel to assist the detained workers.
Organizers say the rally aimed to show public support and counter the idea that the community is indifferent to the workers’ plight.
