Disney CEO Bob Iger will receive an honorary Doctor of Letters degree at Ithaca College’s 130th Commencement on May 18, according to the Ithaca Journal. Iger, a 1973 graduate, began his media career at Ithaca’s Cerrache Cable before rising to lead Disney.
Iger’s ties to the college include launching a $1 million scholarship fund and previously serving as a trustee and commencement speaker. His career accolades include honors from Queen Elizabeth II and the French Republic, alongside hall of fame inductions in the television industry.
College President La Jerne Terry Cornish praised Iger’s contributions, highlighting his long-standing support of students and the Ithaca community. Senior acting major Jasmine Williams will also speak at the event.
