New York gas prices held firm for a second straight week, averaging $3.02 per gallon of regular fuel, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Prices are nearly identical to last month and slightly below the national average of $3.13.
Statewide gas prices over the past year have swung between a low of $3.00 in March and a high of $3.64 last May. Compared to last year, New Yorkers are paying about 8% less at the pump.
While the national average ticked down just a penny from last week, New York’s prices remain consistently about 3.4% lower than the broader U.S. trend.
