Keuka College teams up with FLPPS to boost health workforce

Keuka College has launched a major new partnership aimed at tackling workforce shortages in critical care fields across New York.

On May 1, the college announced its collaboration with the Finger Lakes Performing Provider System (FLPPS) through the Career Pathways Training (CPT) Program. The state-funded initiative covers tuition and education-related expenses for eligible students pursuing careers in health, behavioral health, and social care sectors.

“Our collaboration with FLPPS through the CPT Program enables us to remove financial barriers for students aspiring to make a meaningful impact in their communities,” said Pete Bekisz, Vice President for Enrollment Management at Keuka College. “Together, we’re creating pathways to rewarding careers in essential care fields—while also strengthening the workforce in the regions that need it most.”

Students at Keuka College can use the CPT Program to enroll in programs such as the Master of Social Work, Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, and RN to B.S. in Nursing. Participants must complete their education by Spring 2027 and then commit to three years of full-time employment with a Medicaid-enrolled provider serving at least 30 percent Medicaid members or uninsured individuals.

“We’re proud to support individuals who are eager to enter or advance in the health workforce but may face financial or social barriers to do so,” said Carol Tegas, CEO of FLPPS. “The CPT Program is about more than education—it’s about equity, opportunity, and meeting the real needs of our communities.”

Beyond financial aid, CPT participants receive robust support services, including academic advising, career coaching, and job placement assistance. Interested individuals must apply through the Workforce Investment Organization that serves their county of residence.
