A Canastota woman will serve five years in federal prison after admitting to a drug distribution conspiracy and illegally possessing firearms while using methamphetamine.
Jessica Snyder, 46, was sentenced Monday in Syracuse for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and a heroin/fentanyl mixture, and for possessing firearms as an unlawful drug user.
Federal prosecutors said Snyder ran the drug operation out of the garage of her Madison County home between October 2020 and May 17, 2022, alongside her husband, Andrew Snyder. On the day of her arrest, Snyder had two 9mm handguns and ammunition while using methamphetamine.
Chief U.S. District Judge Brenda K. Sannes sentenced her to five years in prison, followed by four years of supervised release. The judge also ordered her to forfeit the firearms and ammunition.
Andrew Snyder was sentenced earlier in April to 60 months in prison for his role in the conspiracy.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and New York State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Thomas R. Sutcliffe and Matthew J. McCrobie prosecuted the case.
