The Yates County Sheriff’s Office celebrated the retirement of Lt. Ed Nemitz, a veteran officer whose career spanned more than three decades. Lt. Nemitz, who began his service with the department on January 10, 1994, marked his final call on Friday, April 25.

Lt. Nemitz joined the Yates County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff before advancing to the rank of Sergeant in November 2001. His leadership and commitment led to a promotion to Lieutenant in 2014, where he supervised the road patrol division until his retirement.
“The members of the Yates County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate Lt. Ed Nemitz on his retirement from full time service,” the department announced. They also expressed gratitude to all agencies that attended the event honoring Lt. Nemitz’s long-standing dedication.
Throughout his career, Lt. Nemitz played a critical role in shaping the operations of the road patrol division. His colleagues and community members alike recognized his unwavering service and leadership.
