The New York Mets kept their home dominance rolling Tuesday night, crushing the Diamondbacks 8-3 behind timely power and standout defense at Citi Field. The win pushed New York to a league-best 13-1 at home and 21-9 on the season.

New York jumped on Arizona early, with the bottom of the order sparking a four-run second inning. Luisangel Acuña singled, then scored on Tyrone Taylor’s two-out double. Jose Azocar followed with an RBI single, and Francisco Lindor capped the rally with a line-drive homer to left, his first from the right side this season.

Starling Marte added to the offensive barrage with a two-run homer in the third off Eduardo Rodriguez, extending the lead to 6-0.

The defense shined just as brightly. In the fourth, Mark Vientos started a sharp 5-6-3 double play, Taylor made a diving grab in center near the track, and Lindor flashed his glove with a smooth backhand putout.

Starter David Peterson benefited from the defensive gems, going five solid innings while giving up one run on five hits. José Butto delivered two shutout innings with four strikeouts in relief, and Kevin Herget closed out the final two frames in his Mets debut.

Brandon Nimmo sat out with flu-like symptoms, but Azocar filled in nicely, going 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Taylor, who went 2-for-4, added a highlight-reel catch.

Box Score

The Mets and Diamondbacks continue their series Wednesday at 7:10 p.m. Corbin Burnes will take the mound for Arizona, while New York has yet to announce its starter.
