Driver airlifted to hospital after violent crash in Sodus

A man was seriously injured Monday afternoon after a violent crash on State Route 88 in the Town of Sodus, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the scene around 1:29 p.m. on April 28. The investigation revealed that Billy Davis was operating a vehicle that left the roadway, struck a ditch, and went airborne. While airborne, the vehicle struck a tree with its roof before coming to rest off the road.

Davis, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, sustained major injuries. He was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight for treatment. Authorities said the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

The Sodus Fire Department, Wallington Fire Department, Wayne County Ambulance WN6, and Mercy Flight assisted at the scene.
