Auburn man arrested after deputies find cocaine during search

Deputies in Cayuga County arrested a 26-year-old Auburn man on a misdemeanor drug charge after locating him on an active bench warrant. Jacob D. Heintz was taken into custody following an investigation that revealed he was carrying cocaine.

Sheriff Brian Schenck announced the arrest in a release issued April 29. Deputies initially encountered Heintz on March 22 at approximately 1:06 p.m. at 22 Morris Street in the City of Auburn while attempting to serve the warrant.

During the search incident to the arrest, deputies found a baggy containing a white powdery substance. A subsequent laboratory analysis confirmed the substance was cocaine. Heintz was arrested again on April 26 at approximately 8:58 a.m. and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, a misdemeanor.

Heintz was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the City of Auburn Court on May 7 at 1:00 p.m.
