Many Florida families facing financial hardship depend on Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) to meet basic needs. This program offers monthly support to households with minor children, helping parents work toward self-sufficiency.

TCA serves families with children under age 18, or under 19 if the child is still enrolled in full-time secondary education. Pregnant women in their third trimester, or those unable to work during their ninth month, may also qualify.

TCA eligibility and rules

Applicants must be Florida residents and possess a Social Security number or proof of application. When parents, children, and siblings live together, they must apply as a household.

TCA support is time-limited for adults. Recipients may only collect benefits for a lifetime total of 48 months. However, “child-only” cases are exempt from this limit to protect vulnerable minors.
