Deputies arrested a Painted Post man last week after he allegedly struck another person with a wrench, causing injuries, according to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
John P. Southard, Jr., 31, was taken into custody on April 24 following a reported assault in the Village of Riverside. Sheriff Jim Allard stated that Southard was charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
Authorities allege Southard used a wrench, described as a dangerous instrument, during the assault. The victim was transported to a local medical facility for treatment of their injuries.
Southard was arraigned in Centralized Arraignment Court and later released.
