Plans for a new Byrne Dairy in the Village of Camillus remain on hold due to delays in FEMA approval, according to new reporting by WSYR-TV. The 4,200-square-foot store, which would include a deli and gas pumps, is proposed for the former TK Tavern site on Newport Road, damaged by fire in early 2023.
Christian Brunelle of Sonbyrne Sales, Inc. said the FEMA application is nearly complete, but the site’s location in a floodplain has complicated development. If approvals come soon, construction could finish by fall; if delayed, the store may not open until next spring.
The Camillus mayor previously confirmed the project’s progress hinges entirely on FEMA’s final decision.
