Seneca Falls man arrested for sex offender registry violations

Police arrested a Seneca Falls resident Thursday afternoon on multiple charges tied to violations of New York State’s Sex Offender Registry laws.

Robert J. Giggetts, 62, was taken into custody at approximately 3:05 p.m. by the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department. He faces three felony charges: failure to register address with a previous conviction, perjury in the second degree, and offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree.

The arrest followed an investigation launched after authorities learned that Giggetts had failed to report a change of address, as mandated by state law. Detectives discovered that the address he had provided was not his actual place of residence.

Further inquiry revealed that Giggetts had submitted official documents to New York State falsely claiming the incorrect address as his residence. As a result, investigators brought the additional charges of perjury and filing false information.

Police said Giggetts was taken into custody without incident. He was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility, where he remains pending arraignment.

The Town of Seneca Falls Police Department stated it remains committed to the safety and well-being of the community, as well as to enforcing full compliance with all state regulations.
