Isabella Davis, a Unified Early Childhood/Special Education major at Keuka College, says receiving the George H. Ball Community Achievement Award was a defining moment in her academic journey. The award, named after the College’s founder, recognizes junior high school students who show exceptional leadership and service.

Leadership, confidence, and purpose

Originally from Rome, New York, Isabella said the award boosted her confidence and confirmed her passion for making a difference.

“It made me feel so accomplished,” she said. “I realized that others trusted me to uphold these values.”

Isabella now channels that confidence into her work on campus, where she leads as a Student Ambassador and serves as a voice for prospective students in the Office of Admissions.

A deciding factor in choosing Keuka College

The award also played a major role in her college decision.

“Keuka College was already my top choice,” she said. “But this award showed me that the College believed in my potential. I wanted to prove they were right.”

That belief has shaped how Isabella approaches every opportunity, from academics to student life.

Setting an example for others

Isabella recently joined Sigma Lambda Sigma, Keuka College’s honor society for students who excel in academics, leadership, and service. Her invitation to the society reflects the values that the Ball Award seeks to honor.

She encourages future applicants to embrace the opportunity.

“It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made,” she said. “Don’t hesitate. This award opens the door to amazing experiences.”

A mission to lead and serve

Isabella views leadership and service not as achievements, but as ongoing commitments.

“Being a recipient of this award gave me motivation to keep being the change I want to see in the world,” she said.

Whether working in education or guiding new students, Isabella continues to lead with purpose.
