Free seminars in Phelps and Richmond to boost vacant rental rehab

Ontario County will host two public seminars aimed at helping property owners revitalize vacant rental units. The free sessions, part of the Ontario County Vacant Rental Program, will take place in Phelps on April 29 and in Richmond on April 30.

The Phelps event will be held at the Phelps Community Center, 8 Banta St, and the Richmond seminar will be at the Richmond Town Hall, 8690 Main St, Honeoye. Both are scheduled from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. No pre-registration is required.

The Vacant Rental Program is a grant initiative funded by the State of New York and administered by the Housing Trust Fund Corporation’s Office of Community Renewal. It provides support for repairs and rehabilitation of vacant rental units and other vacant spaces.

Eligible applicants include property owners, individuals, LLCs, nonprofits, and public entities. However, tenants and residents are not eligible to apply for the program.

Seminars are designed to inform and assist potential applicants about accessing funding to bring unoccupied units back to market. The program is sponsored by Ontario County Economic Development and delivered in partnership with G&G Municipal Consulting and Grant Writing and the CALV Group.
