The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office is actively recruiting candidates for correction officer positions, with applications now open for the upcoming civil service exam.
The exam will be held continuously from June 1 through June 30, and the application deadline is May 20. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, possess a valid New York State driver’s license, and meet all physical and medical standards.
The position offers a starting salary of $57,824 per year—or $27.80 per hour—with annual pay increases. Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent and be at least 18 years old by the exam date. An application fee of $20 is required, though fee waivers are available.
Residency requirements stipulate that applicants must live in Ontario County or in a neighboring county at the time of appointment.
