The Bristol Volunteer Fire Department is asking residents to step forward and help keep emergency services strong in the community. In an open letter, department leaders issued a call for new volunteers, urging people of all ages to join their all-volunteer team.
Founded in 1952, the department has saved local residents countless dollars in fire losses through decades of service. But today, its members say they need reinforcements to continue their mission.
“We are currently seeking dedicated men and women of all ages to join our team,” the letter states. “We have firefighters that joined as teenagers and others that joined in their 40’s and 50s, so please consider joining our department.”
No prior experience is required. The department offers full training for all new recruits. Volunteers will gain emergency response skills, become part of a close-knit team, and contribute to community safety while keeping local taxes low.
The department highlights several benefits of joining, including teamwork, new friendships, community involvement, and the opportunity to serve as a role model.
Interested residents can call (585) 210-9666, visit bristolvfd.com, or connect via Facebook at facebook.com/BristolVolFire. Those who want to see the department in action can also stop by Station 1 on Route 64 during weekly training every Monday night.
“Together, we can keep volunteerism alive in Bristol and our taxes low. More importantly, we can make a significant impact in our community,” said Lt. Randy Lund, the department’s vice president.
