A Prattsburgh man was arrested Monday morning after an investigator from the Yates County Sheriff’s Office recognized him as a suspect in a burglary and vehicle theft reported the night before in the Town of Jerusalem.
The suspect, 37-year-old Charles H. Graner IV, was taken into custody around 11:30 a.m. on April 21. He was found walking along State Route 54A, just outside the village limits of Penn Yan, when he was approached by law enforcement.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Graner matched the description of a suspect wanted in connection with the prior night’s incident. After a brief interview, he was identified and arrested on multiple felony charges, including Burglary in the Third Degree, Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, and Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree. He also faces a misdemeanor charge for resisting arrest.
Graner was transported to the Yates County Jail and is awaiting arraignment. The arrest was made by Sgt. K. Campbell with assistance from Deputies D. McGuigan, C. Hansen, and Lt. Inv. Cunningham.
No other agencies were involved in the arrest.
