Finger Lakes Land Trust seeks new director of development to lead fundraising efforts

The Finger Lakes Land Trust is seeking a new Director of Development to spearhead its fundraising and donor engagement strategies. The Ithaca-based conservation nonprofit announced the opening on April 18.

The role reports directly to the organization’s president and plays a key leadership role alongside the heads of conservation, stewardship, and operations. The successful candidate will oversee a team of three full-time staff and be responsible for securing public and private funding to support an annual operating budget of more than $2 million.

According to the announcement, the Director of Development will be tasked with managing a comprehensive fundraising program, leading major gift and planned giving efforts, and supervising special events designed to engage donors. Responsibilities also include coordinating grant proposals, managing a donor database, and increasing the organization’s visibility.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of fundraising or related experience, strong communication skills, and a proven record in nonprofit development. A bachelor’s degree is required, along with experience working with donor databases and fundraising communications.

The position offers a salary between $90,000 and $105,000, depending on experience. The job is full-time and based in Ithaca, New York. The Finger Lakes Land Trust stated that it welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds and is committed to equal opportunity hiring.
