A mother who sued the Skaneateles School District for socially transitioning her daughter without consent has filed an appeal after a federal court sided with the district, according to reporting this weekend by The Citizen. The case now heads to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit.
Jennifer Vitsaxaki claims district staff referred to her daughter using a male name and pronouns without informing her, violating her parental rights and religious beliefs. After learning of the policy, she withdrew her daughter from public school.
Her attorneys argue the school concealed vital information and betrayed parental trust. The appeal seeks to overturn the lower court’s ruling and affirm parents’ rights in school-related decisions.
