New Water-Sewer Authority Begins Work in Seneca County

Seneca County’s new Water-Sewer Authority held its first meeting on March 27, kicking off a regional push to modernize infrastructure, according to county officials. Formed by state legislation, the Authority is designed to unite towns and villages under one strategic framework for water and sewer services.

Nine local residents were appointed to staggered terms on the board, which named Robert Carroll of Romulus as chairman and tapped Daniel Schmalzel as interim executive director. The group reviewed system assessments and examples from other counties during its launch.

Early goals include creating operational guidelines and boosting intermunicipal coordination. The Authority’s next meeting is set for April 24 at 5:30 p.m. in Waterloo.
