This Earth Day, a single gift can go three times as far in helping children connect with nature.
Ithaca Children’s Garden announced a powerful one-day opportunity to support its 2025 Scholarship Campaign. Thanks to a $1,000 matching gift from Wegmans, all donations made by first-time or lapsed donors on Tuesday, April 22, will be tripled — turning each dollar into three.
“This campaign is about making sure every child can experience the wonder and sense of belonging that comes from a personal relationship with the outdoors,” said Erin Marteal, Development Director and Interim Executive Director at ICG. “And with this special Earth Day match challenge, each new gift goes three times as far.”
The campaign goal is to raise $27,000 by April 30. The community has already raised over $14,000. In addition to the Earth Day challenge, all gifts throughout April are being matched dollar-for-dollar by an anonymous donor, potentially doubling the total to $54,000. The funds will provide nature-based programming for more than 100 local children, regardless of income.
The Earth Day triple match applies to first-time donors and anyone who hasn’t contributed in the last two years. All qualifying gifts made on April 22 will be matched 2:1.
Supporters are also invited to join a special Earth Day Volunteer Day at the Garden from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event, sponsored by Wegmans, Visions Federal Credit Union, and The Home Depot Foundation, offers a hands-on way to care for the garden and give back to the environment.
