A proposal to accept donated land for Ulysses’ first public park has received strong community support, with 76 letters in favor and only eight opposed, according to town officials.
At an April 8 public hearing, most residents praised the park’s potential for recreation and community gathering. Some, however, raised concerns about increased traffic and property values. The nearly 16-acre parcel on Cold Springs Road was offered by Marvin and Allison Pritts. No development plans are in place yet, as the town is still reviewing the donation.
State law prevents a public vote on the donation, but officials pledged a transparent process and ongoing community input as the proposal moves forward.
