If you’re expecting a Social Security check this week, today might be your day. The Social Security Administration is sending out payments today, Wednesday, April 17, to millions of retirees across the country.

Who Gets Paid on April 17?

You’ll receive your Social Security check today if:

  • You receive retirement, survivor, or disability benefits, and
  • Your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of any month, and
  • You did not start receiving benefits before May 1997

If that applies to you, your direct deposit should arrive today or within the next 24 hours.

How Much Will the Check Be?

Most retirees receive an average of $1,910 per month in 2025. Some high earners could get up to $3,200, depending on how long they worked and when they began claiming benefits.

  • April 1: SSI recipients (already paid)
