Next month, Auburn Enlarged City School District voters will weigh in on a $7.2 million emergency project to upgrade HVAC systems at four elementary schools.
The district says aging equipment at Casey Park, Genesee, Herman, and Owasco schools has led to temperature control issues and water damage, prompting the urgent proposal. The project, aimed at meeting safety legislation requirements, would be fully funded from reserves with no tax impact.
Officials blame a flawed design for the HVAC failures and are pursuing mediation with the architect. If unresolved, the district plans to sue for damages.
