The Scipio Volunteer Fire Department is firing up the grill and opening its doors on April 27 for a community Chicken BBQ and Open House event aimed at both feeding and informing local residents.
The event, held at 3550 State Route 34, begins serving at 11 a.m. and will continue until meals are sold out. Chicken halves will be available for $10, while full dinners—featuring half a chicken, salt potatoes, pasta salad, and Italian bread—are priced at $12. Proceeds from the BBQ will directly benefit the Scipio firefighters.
In addition to delicious food, the day doubles as a recruitment event. Visitors are encouraged to tour the fire station, meet local firefighters and EMTs, check out the department’s new heavy rescue vehicle, and watch live demonstrations. Organizers hope the event sparks interest among potential new volunteers.
Chicken dinners are expected to sell quickly, and reservations are highly recommended. Interested guests can reserve meals in advance by calling 315-364-8922.
