Deputies arrested a Sterling man after a woman told authorities he choked and struck her during a domestic dispute earlier this week.
Daniel M. Huller, 43, was taken into custody on April 10 after turning himself in on an arrest warrant issued by the Town of Sterling Court. He faces misdemeanor charges of criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and third-degree menacing.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and a New York State Trooper responded to a 911 call on April 7 at 9:37 p.m. at a residence in Sterling. When they arrived, they found the victim hiding in the bushes outside the home. She told law enforcement that Huller, her boyfriend, had assaulted her.
Following an investigation, deputies applied for a warrant, which led to Huller’s arrest three days later. He was arraigned at Centralized Arraignment and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond.
A full stay-away order of protection was issued, and Huller is scheduled to appear in Town of Sterling Court on April 23 at 6 p.m.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about the incident to call 315-253-1222 or submit a tip anonymously through the county website or the SaferWatch app.
