A Hornell man has been convicted of manslaughter after a deadly crash in Avoca. Michael Eldridge, 26, was found guilty after a trial revealed he was high and speeding when he caused the collision that killed another driver.

Prosecutors say Eldridge had been smoking marijuana for seven hours before the August 2023 crash. He was driving 87 mph in a 55 mph zone when he veered into oncoming traffic and struck another car, killing 51-year-old Michael Heinrich and seriously injuring two others.

Eldridge now faces up to 25 years in prison following the conviction on multiple charges, including vehicular manslaughter and reckless endangerment.
