According to the Penn Yan Police Department, officers responded to a report of a small child walking alone. Investigators determined the 1-year-old had exited a residence while under Hanes’ supervision and roamed the complex until a neighbor found them.

Police confirmed the child was not harmed. The child was turned over to their mother following the incident. Hanes was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Penn Yan Village Court at a later date.
