Geneva City Council reviewed a range of proposals focused on public safety and community well-being, including restoring two police positions and hiring a mental health professional to support crisis response. The Police Budget Advisory Board said the department is under-resourced and highlighted the need for better tools than the current virtual clinician tablets. Council also discussed the possibility of a local ordinance to address aggressive panhandling, though concerns were raised about criminalizing homelessness. No formal action was taken on those proposals, but council did approve funding for a Resource Recovery Park and declared April as Fair Housing Month and April 26 as Arbor Day.
