No. 10 William Smith lacrosse dominated Clarkson in a 16-4 victory on Saturday, shutting out the Golden Knights in the second half to stay perfect in Liberty League play. The Herons improved to 8-3 overall and 5-0 in conference action with the win at Boswell Field.
William Smith’s offense was balanced and relentless, with 12 different players finding the back of the net. Junior Natalie Daniels led the charge with a hat trick, an assist, and a game-high seven draw controls. Delaney Cassidy and Taryn Luzi each scored twice, while Claire Davenport, Lauren Collins, and Kate Colvin added fourth-quarter goals to help cap a 10-0 second-half run.
The Herons’ defense was just as impressive. Lily Kuhn caused five turnovers, while Caitlin Baker and Janey Sypeck added three and two, respectively. Goalie Maura Smeader played all 60 minutes, stopping three shots.
Clarkson (6-5, 1-4 LL) was led by Madelynn Barnum, who scored three of the team’s four goals. Despite striking first, the Golden Knights were overwhelmed by a William Smith defense that held them to just two second-half shots.
The Herons held a 42-11 shot advantage, went 18-for-18 on clears, and extended their home win streak to 46 games.
