Hobart lacrosse couldn’t overcome a fast start by No. 9 Richmond, falling 15-7 in Saturday’s Atlantic 10 matchup at Boswell Field. The Spiders opened with a 5-0 first quarter and stretched the lead to 10-2 by halftime, cruising to their third straight win.

Richmond’s attack was fueled by Lucas Littlejohn and Aidan O’Neil, who each scored five goals. Littlejohn netted three in the opening quarter, while O’Neil added a hat trick in the third. Goalie Zach Vigue tallied eight saves for the Spiders.

Junior David Peterkin led Hobart with a three-goal effort, marking his third hat trick of the season. First-year Johnny Harding chipped in two goals, and fellow rookie Daniel Cano had two assists. Mike Valent won 9-of-14 faceoffs and collected eight ground balls. Goalie Jackson Faiola made 10 saves for the Statesmen.

Peterkin broke the scoring drought early in the second quarter, but Richmond answered with a six-goal run to widen the gap. Hobart showed some life late, scoring four of the last seven goals in the third quarter. Harding netted the game’s only fourth-quarter goal.

Box Score

Now 3-8 overall and 0-2 in conference play, Hobart travels to face Saint Joseph’s on Saturday, April 12. Faceoff is set for noon in Philadelphia.
