The Corning Social Security office will shut down for six months due to renovations, the agency confirmed Thursday.
Residents needing in-person assistance are being directed to the Horseheads office, though concerns about its future were raised after it appeared on a closure list. Rep. Nick Langworthy clarified that only unused space at that site will be eliminated, not the entire office.
In the meantime, the Social Security Administration encourages the public to access services online at www.ssa.gov.
