Cornell women’s lacrosse nearly pulled off a stunning comeback, but fell just short in a 12-11 loss to No. 8/7 Princeton on Saturday at Schoellkopf Field. The Big Red scored seven of the game’s final eight goals, including five in the last 3:15, but couldn’t find the equalizer before time expired.

Down 10-3 entering the fourth quarter, Cornell erupted offensively behind senior Caitlin Slaminko, who recorded her 100th career point and finished with three goals and two assists. Alexa Donahoe and Maggie Pons each added two goals, while Dylan Madiga, Ella Wilmot, and Ava Gelabert also found the net during the late push.

Junior goalkeeper Mackenzie Clark was instrumental in keeping Cornell close, making a career-high 18 saves, the most by a Big Red goalie since 2022. Defender Caitlin Tully added five caused turnovers and five ground balls as Cornell held Princeton to just three goals in the second half.

Despite being outshot 45-29 and winning only seven of 26 draw controls, the Big Red showed grit until the final whistle.
