A routine traffic stop in the early hours of March 28 led Cayuga County deputies to charge a driver with multiple offenses, including driving while intoxicated.
Barshae R. Murph was pulled over around 1:59 a.m. near the intersection of Clark Street Road and Turnpike Road in the Town of Aurelius, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies determined during the stop that Murph was intoxicated and took him to the Public Safety Building in Auburn for further testing.
There, Murph submitted a breath sample that registered a blood alcohol concentration of 0.13 percent, above the legal limit. He was charged with driving while intoxicated (VTL 1192.3, first offense), operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher (VTL 1192.2), moving from a lane unsafely (VTL 1128A), and operating a vehicle out of class (VTL 509.02).
Deputies issued Murph an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Aurelius Town Court on April 9 at 7 p.m.
