A convicted felon faces new charges after a dramatic courtroom escape attempt in Geneva that left a court deputy injured.
Loyd Kennedy, 36, of Rochester, fled custody Monday morning during his initial appearance in Geneva City Criminal Court. According to Geneva police, Kennedy used physical force in an effort to run through a security checkpoint after being remanded to the Ontario County Jail.
Ontario County Court Deputies quickly stopped Kennedy and took him into custody. He was transported to the jail without further incident. One deputy sustained injuries during the altercation and was treated at Geneva General Hospital before being released.
Kennedy now faces additional charges of Escape in the First Degree and Assault in the Second Degree, both class D felonies.
