A traffic stop in the Town of Fayette led to a weapons arrest late Monday night, according to the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrested 27-year-old Mujahidden A. Bin-Yamin of Ithaca after pulling over a vehicle around 10:40 p.m. for violations of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. Authorities say Bin-Yamin was behind the wheel despite having a suspended driver’s license.
During the stop, deputies discovered a stolen AR-15 style rifle and a loaded high-capacity 30-round magazine in the vehicle. Investigators charged Bin-Yamin with multiple felonies, including criminal possession of a firearm, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree possession of stolen property.
He also faces a misdemeanor charge of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and several traffic violations.
Deputies transported Bin-Yamin to the Seneca County Correctional Facility, where he was held pending arraignment in CAP Court.
