Jiri Kulich scored twice as the Buffalo Sabres (30-35-6) erupted for five goals in the second period, securing a dominant 7-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins (29-34-11) on Thursday night at KeyBank Center. The victory extended Buffalo’s winning streak to three games.
Several Sabres had multi-point nights, including Bowen Byram, Peyton Krebs, Rasmus Dahlin, Tyson Kozak, Tage Thompson, and Alex Tuch. Mattias Samuelsson also found the net, with Isak Rosen recording his first NHL point on an assist.
James Reimer made 22 saves for his third consecutive win, while Buffalo’s penalty kill went a perfect 3-for-3.
Sidney Crosby, Blake Lizotte, and Kevin Hayes scored for Pittsburgh. Tristan Jarry surrendered four goals on 12 shots before being replaced by Alex Nedeljkovic, who stopped 15-of-18 shots.
