Seven Auburn police officers faced disciplinary action for their involvement in an off-duty bar fight last October, according to reporting by The Citizen.
Consequences ranged from suspensions to demotions, with two officers found to have used excessive force. The fight and subsequent investigation cost the city nearly $50,000 in overtime and paid leave.
The altercation began when an intoxicated patron confronted an officer at A.T. Walley & Co. Security footage showed officers engaging in a physical altercation, leading to injuries. The investigation cited officers for assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct, but no criminal charges have been filed.
A lieutenant was demoted, and others received suspensions, retraining, or removal from specialized units.
