Finger Foods Farm recently announced an ambitious commitment to strengthening regional agriculture, aiming to source 30,000 pounds of locally grown produce by the end of 2025. The Bloomfield-based farm, which launched just three months ago, has already utilized more than 7,700 pounds of New York-grown ingredients for its farm-based frozen soups.
Co-founder Sarah Cookfair emphasized the value of working directly with local farmers. “Partnering with local farms is a win-win. It supports local farmers and allows us to make better-tasting soups by using more flavorful varieties harvested at peak flavor,” she said. “By sourcing directly from ourselves and neighboring farms, we not only provide consumers with delicious, high-quality soups but also strengthen our community by supporting the regional food system.”
FFF operates its own 40-acre organic farm and collaborates with more than nine partner farms. This model reduces food miles, strengthens regional food networks, and ensures fresh, seasonal ingredients make their way into the company’s soup offerings.
As part of its expansion, FFF plans to introduce two new soup varieties while significantly increasing its use of locally sourced produce. The company’s frozen soups are currently available in independent retailers in Rochester and nearly 80 Wegmans locations along the East Coast, with plans to enter additional grocery chains.
“As we grow, we remain dedicated to investing in our regional food system,” Cookfair added. “With the continued support of our customers and partners, we can drive even greater impact. We’re setting a goal to source 30,000 pounds of local produce by the end of 2025, and we invite our community to help us reach this milestone by choosing Finger Foods Farm soups.”
