New York is reinforcing protections for abortion providers under a new law signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul, according to state officials. The legislation allows medical professionals to omit their names from prescription labels, listing only their healthcare facility’s address instead.
The bill also mandates that pharmacies follow prescriber requests to remove identifying information. Supporters say the change helps protect privacy and safety amid threats from out-of-state anti-abortion efforts.
Co-sponsored by Assemblymember Karines Reyes, the law aims to safeguard smaller practices and telemedicine services from legal retaliation elsewhere. It’s part of the state’s broader effort to defend reproductive care and provider anonymity.
