Goodwill of the Finger Lakes is expanding into Ithaca with the opening of its first thrift store in Tompkins County. The new 15,000-square-foot retail and donation center, located at 723 South Meadow Street in the former Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, will welcome shoppers beginning at 9 a.m. on April 25 following a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The first 100 customers through the doors will receive a $10 Goodwill gift card. Leading up to the grand opening, the store is accepting donations daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Regular business hours will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
“This strategic expansion has been a long time coming and is our first location in Tompkins County, allowing us to reach new shoppers and better serve the region through our unique social enterprise model,” said Jennifer Lake, president and CEO of Goodwill of the Finger Lakes. “We’re thrilled to be joining a community renowned for its entrepreneurial spirit, high-caliber educational offerings, and vibrant culture.”
The Ithaca location marks the organization’s 13th retail store, adding to a network that spans more than 20 counties across upstate New York. Goodwill operates 26 donation and retail sites from Greater Rochester to Syracuse, offering a mix of secondhand apparel, household goods, and new merchandise.
Proceeds from sales support Goodwill’s community-based programs, including the 211 LIFE LINE/988 crisis hotlines, workforce development initiatives, and services like Goodwill Vision Enterprises and Goodwill Learning Academy.
