Syracuse secured its third consecutive win with a 12-11 victory over No. 20/21 Notre Dame on Sunday afternoon at the JMA Wireless Dome. The No. 9/8 Orange also notched their fourth win against a top-20 opponent this season.

Emma Ward led the team with six points (two goals, four assists), bringing her career total to 297. Freshman Caroline Trinkaus had a standout performance, scoring a team-high four goals, her fourth multi-goal game this season. Defensively, Coco Vandiver caused three turnovers and collected three ground balls.

Box Score

Syracuse jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but Notre Dame responded with four unanswered goals to take a 5-4 advantage. The Orange ended the first half strong, reclaiming the lead at 6-5. Tied 8-8 after three quarters, Joely Caramelli put Syracuse ahead for good early in the fourth. Ward assisted on goals by Carlie Desimone and Alexa Vogelman to extend the lead to 11-8.

Notre Dame fought back, closing the gap to 11-10, but goalie Daniella Guyette made key saves down the stretch. Trinkaus’ final goal secured the win as Syracuse ran out the clock.

The Orange will host No. 12/14 Virginia at noon on March 29 for Senior Day.
