Syracuse’s Chris Bell enters transfer portal

Syracuse forward Chris Bell has entered the transfer portal, per On3’s Joe Tipton.

Over three seasons, the junior started 95 games for the Orange, averaging 9.4 points per game. He was the last remaining player from Jim Boeheim’s 2022 recruiting class, following the departures of Judah Mintz, Quadir Copeland, Maliq Brown, Peter Carey, and Justin Taylor last offseason.

Bell, a four-star recruit, was known for his three-point shooting. He started every game in Boeheim’s final season, averaging 6.6 points while shooting 34.5% from beyond the arc. As a sophomore, he improved significantly, hitting 42% of his threes and averaging 12 points per game.

Bell was expected to take another step forward as a junior but struggled early, making just 21.6% of his threes through 13 games. As a result, head coach Adrian Autry moved him to the bench for the first time in his career on January 4 against Florida State. While his shooting improved later in the season, his minutes and scoring remained below his sophomore numbers. He finished with 9.3 points per game in 21.5 minutes.

Bell is the second Syracuse player to enter the portal this offseason, joining Kyle Cuffe Jr.
