The Schuyler County Historical Society kicked off a capital campaign Thursday to raise $300,000 toward a $1.3 million renovation of its Brick Tavern Museum in Montour Falls.
Plans include installing an elevator, adding a handicapped-accessible restroom, updating exhibit and archive spaces, and improving parking. Groundbreaking is set for November. With $792,000 from a New York Forward grant and additional pledges and savings, the campaign is already over halfway to its goal.
Leaders say the upgrades will make the 1828 museum more accessible and preserve local history for generations to come.
