Farmington man arrested for alleged drug sales following citizen tips

A months-long investigation into drug activity at the Farmington Court Apartments ended Thursday evening with the arrest of a local man accused of dealing crack cocaine and other narcotics.

Eric A. Gonzalez, 35, was taken into custody on March 20 by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Special Investigations Division. He was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell—a class B felony.

Authorities say the investigation was sparked by tips from residents who used the county’s anonymous drug tip line to report suspicious activity at the complex on Mertensia Road. Deputies credited concerned citizens for helping bring the case to a close.

Investigators identified Gonzalez as the suspect, tracking his movements over several months and observing him carry out hand-to-hand drug transactions. A search warrant was obtained for Gonzalez, his 2024 Honda CRV, and his apartment.

When officers executed the warrants, they found a large quantity of crack cocaine hidden in Gonzalez’s pants, along with approximately $2,700 in cash and a digital scale. Additional narcotics were discovered in his vehicle, and further evidence was recovered from his apartment.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, several residents at the scene expressed their appreciation to law enforcement for acting on their complaints.

Gonzalez was transported to the Ontario County Jail for pre-arraignment detention but was later released on his own recognizance. He is expected to appear in court at a later date to face the charges.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said it remains committed to aggressively pursuing drug-related crimes and encourages residents to report suspicious activity.
