Simple Roast Coffee Co. has been named the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Rural Owned Small Business of the Year for its growth and success. Owner Matt Peirson will be honored at a ceremony in Syracuse on May 5 during National Small Business Week.
Peirson launched Simple Roast as a kiosk in 2016 and expanded with a second location in 2019. Last year, he opened Roast & Toast, a downtown Auburn café that serves coffee by day and cocktails by night.
Grateful for his community’s support, Peirson told The Citizen the recognition affirms his dream of entrepreneurship. The SBA praised his determination in strengthening the local economy.
