Seneca County backs Ovid’s fire recovery efforts

  • Staff Report

The Seneca County Board of Supervisors approved two measures Tuesday to aid Ovid’s recovery from a devastating January fire that destroyed an entire block, including 10 apartments and five businesses.

One resolution supports strategic planning to attract redevelopment, including a grocery store and housing. The second seeks state funding for water system upgrades. If approved, Ovid could receive up to $1 million for infrastructure improvements, including a new water main and filtration systems.

Officials emphasized the need for public investment to attract private developers. Ovid’s mayor and town supervisor expressed gratitude for the county’s swift action, aiming to rebuild and strengthen the local economy.
