Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand sent a letter to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., questioning the sudden cancellation of the FDA’s Vaccines & Related Biological Advisory Committee meeting, which initiates flu shot production. She also raised concerns over the CDC’s postponement of its immunization review meeting.
Gillibrand urged the agencies to explain how they will mitigate the impact of these delays on at-risk populations and what alternative plans will be implemented to select influenza strains for vaccine production.
She seeks accountability to ensure timely vaccinations remain available.
